
Anthony David Gonzalez was conceived in Torrance on February 27, 1976. He was raised in the southern part of California and was a student at Huntington Beach High School, where he was a top athlete on both the football and basketball teams. Gonzalez continued to excel in these sports at University of California, Berkeley. He was instrumental in leading the football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl. There, he set a school record for receptions with nine, and set it again. Gonzalez also led the basketball team to Sweet 16 in the NCAA basketball tournament a few months after. Gonzalez was then selected for the NFL Draft in 1997. Gonzalez was picked as the 13th overall choice by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez played for the Chiefs from 1997 to the year 2008. The Chiefs traded Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. Starting in Gonzalez's second year in the NFL and never catching less than 59 passes during one season.
